Abstract

Speech therapy (speeh therapy) is a treatment process in people with communication behavior disorders to be able to interact with the environment reasonably and able to improve optimal life. Cerebral palsy or brain injury is a condition that affects motor system control as a result of lesions in the brain, or a neuromuscular disease. Speech therapy is one effort to improve the ability of social interaction in children cerebral palsy. The purpose of this research is to know 1) the implementation of speech therapy for children of cerebral palsy in PNTC Karanganyar, and 2) improvement of social interaction ability in CP child through speech therapy. This research methodology uses qualitative approach which then poured in descriptive method. The data was collected by observation and in -depth interview on speech therapy service conducted by PNTC Karanganyar. Informants in this study amounted to 5 people, consisting of 1 person speech therapist, 2 children CP and 2 parents clients. The research instrument used The Working Speech Procedure Theory Theory presented by Bambang Setyono and Social Interaction Pattern Theory proposed by Kusmono Hadi et al. Based on the research can be concluded that the social interaction ability of research subjects have developed after being given speech therapy. Subjects who were initially less expressive, less able to communicate, less able to repeat words spoken by other orags, were less able to recognize the names of objects around them after being given speech therapy improved, subjects more expressive, responding to other people's sayings, more vocabulary, can recognize the words objects that are around him. This proves that speech therapy is effective in improving social interaction ability in children with cerebral palsy.
