Abstract

Cerebral Palsy is a disorder caused by the presence of motion difficulty derived from the brain dysfunction. There is also a motion disorder or palsy which is not caused by the brain dysfunction, but by poliomyelitis named spinal palsy or organ palsy which is caused by the muscular damage (dystrophy muscular). Due to the presence of the brain dysfunction, persons with cerebral palsy have disorders in language, speaking, writing, emotion, learning, and psychological disturbances. This research aims to understanding deeply the method of therapy management on children with special needs of Cerebral Palsy. The use of the qualitative method in this research aims to obtain a comprehensive understanding on the phenomenon of the method of therapy management on children with special needs of Cerebral Palsy. The data collection conducted by using observation, interview and documentation. The main informants in this research are 2 students or patients in the school and clinic of Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Therapy Centre (PNTC). The informants are 7 years old and 8 years old respectively with the period of therapy management is a 1-year difference. Both of informants are male who are similarly suffering from cerebral palsy of spastic type. The conclusions obtained from the method of therapy management onchildren with special needs of Cerebral Palsy are: (1) Cerebral palsy is a paralysis of a part of brain which undergoes a damage that causes a disorder in the motion development or the body posture, therefore, it disturbs the children‟s motion activities. (2) The methods of therapy management given to children with special needs of cerebral palsy as autism atc with different cases are similar, including the educational therapy, the speaking therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). But in giving of the management therapy always be adapted to the needs of child it self. (3) In the therapies, parenting and duration of the therapy management process influence much the development of children with special needs either in their cognition, motor, or social.
